About two beautiful capitals...

London, one of the greatest cities in the world, is the capital of Great Britain, and the cradle of British tradition and culture. London is a city of great contrasts. Its western part is the richest part with its cosy  mansions, beautiful avenues, shops, restaurants and hotels. The East End is the district inhabited by the workers and the poor. The heart of London is the City, its commercial and business centre. It is the oldest part with the Tower of London. If you want to get some glimpses of London its just from here you had better start sightseeing. A twenty minutes’ walk from the Tower will take you to another historic building — St. Paul’s Cathedral, the greatest of English churches. Not far away, in Westminster, is Westminster Abbey. Across the road is Westminster Palace, the seat of the British Parliament. Its two graceful towers stand high above the city. The higher of two contains the largest clock in the country and the famous bell Big Ben, that strikes every quarter of the hour.

Paris is considered to be one of the most beautiful cities in the world. It is situated on both banks of the river Seine. Paris is full of mysteries. In spite of its ancient history, Paris continues to live and admire. Someone wrote ‘Everybody finds his town in Paris. It’s a mirror in which you see what you want, because you reflect in it  yourself’ Island ‘Cite’-is the history of Paris or Lutecia, as it was called by romans. There aretwo islands on the river Seine in the centre of Paris—Cite and Saint Lui,which are connected with the land by the bridges. Notre-Dame de Pari is situated on the island Cite. The population of Paris is two million people, its territory is 105 sq. km. But “Great Paris” (Paris and its suburbs) contains 10 million people. Its an administrative, political and cultural centre of Paris.
